Riz Ahmed: First Pakistani In ROGUE ONE A STAR WARS STORY Plays The Role Of Bodhi Rook. In the latest much anticipated stand alone Star Wars trilogy Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a British Pakistani, Riz Ahmed, who will be playing the role of Bodhi Rook, a pilot originating from a small desert moon called Jedha located in the galaxy’s inner rim. Bodhi Rook joins the Alliance to restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War, and also joins a rebel group who go on a mission to steal the plans to the first Death Star. Riz Ahmed’s casting in the film was first announced on August 15, 2015.

Riz Ahmed originates from Karachi, from where his parents moved to England during the 1970s. He was born in Wembley, London in 1982. He studied acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama, and started his career by starring in Michael Winterbottom‘s film The Road To Guantanamo (2006), in which he played the role of Shafiq Rasul. His first lead role came in Shifty (2008) in which he plays a charismatic drug dealer. He then played another role as one of the leads in IL Manor (2012) directed by Plan B. With time he succeeded in getting roles along side big names in the world of cinema including Kate Hudson, Kiefer Sutherland, Om Puri, Shabana Azmi, and Liev Schreiber in The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2012) directed by Mira Nair. He also acted opposite Jake Gyllenhall in Nightcrawler (2014) for which he gained numerous award nominations. In 2016 he appeared in the fifth Jason Bourne film starring Matt Damon. Lately, he starred along side John Turturro and Peyman Mooadi in the HBO series In The Night Of (2016) playing the role of Nair ‘Naz’ Khan.

Other than acting on screen, he has also performed on stage and has a successful music career.
