1- TOP GUN (1986)

Directed by Tony Scott and starring Tom Cruise opposite Kelly McGillis and Val Kilmer, this evergreen movie focusing on a group of students at the United States Navy’s elite figher weapons scHool is a must watch.
Those who have never watched this masterpiece of the 1980s should experience it; and those who have and are waiting for Top Gun Maverick to come out in december, 2020 can freshen up their minds with it.

2- CAST AWAY (2000)

This Robinson Crusoe-esque movie was a major blockbuster back in 2000. Those looking for some ideas of how to live on an isolated island, in isolation, must watch this movie but you should be warned that living on an island away from the civilised world is not at all easy.
Tom Hanks gives his best performance opposite ‘Wilson’, his only friend who can neither talk back nor help him in anyway at all. Keep a box of tissues with you as it can make you cry and make you realise that human contact should not be taken for granted.

3- Elysium (2013)

This science fiction piece of a well written script is so near to the life we are living today, that it is mindboggling. Matt Damon lives on the earth as a low life human, while the chosen ones live in space orbiting around the earth. The VIPs who live in space live away from the people on earth as they don’t want to get in contact with them and end up having their diseases.
While watching this masterpiece, you will be taken into a world full of inequality, and will show how the downtrodden are ignored and left to survive on their own.

4- Cliffhanger (1993)

Now this Sylvester Stallone starrer is a must watch on the big screen, but sadly, it can’t be watched on one but don’t worry, you can watch it on your TV screens with a good surround sound system and experience it like you’re in the cinema.
This movie was a must watch back in the 1990s, and was way beyond its times in all aspects of filmmaking. Filmed in cold rocky mountains, a number of bad guys hire a good guy to help them find suitcases full of money. Even though its summers, but keep something warm to wrap around you because you will feel cold at some point during the movie.

5- Scarface (1983)

Have you got a bit of a gangsta in you? If yes, then this is a movie to take tips from. Learn how to rise from rags to riches in this near to life story of a Cuban immigrant in Miami. Of course, there will be challenges in shape of enemies but don’t worry, Tony Montana will guide you in every way.
Al Pacino gives an impeccable performance. If you are learning to be an actor and play macho kind of roles, then this is a must watch, and oh yes, don’t forget to say hello to my little friend!
