‘My New Sassy Girl’ Starring Cha Tae Hyun and Victoria Song Releasing In May 2016

My New Sassy Girl the sequel to the Original My Sassy Girl (2001), is planned to be released in May 2016.

My New Sassy Girl is set to hit the big screen in China and South Korea simultaneously in May 2016. The cast would include Cha Tae Hyun, who starred in the lead opposite Jun Ji Hyun in the original My Sassy Girl in 2001. Opposite Cha Tae Hyun will be Victoria Song of f(x), playing his new love interest.

Expectations are high with this film as the prequel My Sassy Girl gained a lot of success among the Korean film goers. It was the second highest selling film and the highest grossing comedy film in Korea in 2001. Jun Ji Hyun was highly praised for the portrayal of the character she played. The film also went on to win numerous awards including Best New Actor for Cha Tae Hyun and Best Actress for Jun Ji Hyun. Remakes were made in Hollywood, Bollywood, Tollywood, Nollywood and countries including Japan, China and Nepal.

Cha Tae Hyun is as good as he was in the original, but eyes are mainly on Victoria Song to see how she portrays the character she is given to play. This film is a collaborative work bewteen China and Korea, and is directed by Jo Geun Sik.

Gyun Woo (Cha Tae Hyun) has a hard time forgetting his former girlfriend, but moves on once he reunites with his childhood sweetheart (Victoria Song), an elementary school classmate from China. They both marry despite family opposition, but Gyun Woo has no idea what he’s about to face after marriage.
