Members of popular Irish blues/rock band The Strypes took time out from their performing and recording schedule to attend the debut screening of The Beat Beneath My Feet on Sunday. The band’s song “Angel Eyes” is used in the soundtrack.

Bass player Peter O’Hanlon (left) and drummer Evan Walsh (right) saw the locally-produced film at the first sold out show of a three weekend run at Clapham Picturehouse.

The Beat Beneath My Feet has been nominated for The Raindance Award at the 2014 Moët British Independent Film Awards. Featuring a stand-out performance from former Beverly Hills 90210 heartthrob Luke Perry, the film is directed by John Williams in his first feature and also stars Lisa Dillon and newcomer Nicholas Galitzine.

Speaking after the screening Peter and Evan said, “We really enjoyed it and can relate to having that love of music. Nick’s an amazing actor. He was impressive on screen, considering it was his first venture into film. The soundtrack was really strong. There’s some great songs there.”

The Strypes are currently in the studio recording the follow up album to their debut “Snapshot”, which was released in September 2013 and hit #5 on the UK albums chart. On Tuesday 11th November they appear in a star-studded special “Who Hits 50” show in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust at Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

The film’s producers, Balham-based Scoop Films, are crowd-funding the next stage of the film’s distribution journey by partnering with innovative London startup CrowdShed. New finance will fund a marketing and distribution campaign to take the film to as wide an audience as possible.
